100m: Women's Track and Field tiers by event

Pick an event to see the high school PR tiers by division that the Recruit Score uses. The tiers are senior-year marks, so younger athletes are scored with room to improve. NextCommit compares FAT, outdoor, wind-legal marks.

These ranges are general guidelines based on average recruited athlete metrics. Individual programs may have different requirements. Academic requirements, character, and coachability also play significant roles in recruiting decisions. Track tiers are NextCommit's division estimates of senior-year high school PRs, built from publicly available recruiting standards and checked against 2026 college conference results. They are not official NCAA standards. Younger athletes are scored with room to improve before senior year. NextCommit compares FAT, outdoor, wind-legal marks.

How the Women's Track and Field Recruit Score helps you target better programs

Track and field is the most objective recruiting sport, but marks only help when they reach the right programs. The Recruit Score compares your PRs with high school tiers by division, so you can see which levels fit before you email anyone.

The score is not a promise from a coach. Coaches also weigh your trend, competition, academics, and roster needs in your event group.

Sample Score Breakdown

Marks by event

Each PR is compared with the tiers for that event, so a sprinter and a thrower are never judged on the same scale.

Timing and conversions

Hand times are adjusted before comparison, and the mile and 1500m are compared as 1600m equivalents.

Grade and runway

The tiers are senior-year marks. A senior is held to them, and a younger athlete can project above their current level because there is time to improve.

Events without tiers

Events with no published high school tiers, such as the steeplechase and the multi-events, are shown but not tiered.

Academics and outreach readiness

Grades and a clean results profile can widen the list, especially at D2, D3, NAIA, and academic programs.

Division-Level Projections

D1 conversation range

Marks at or near the Division I tiers in at least one event, with a steady improvement trend.

D2 / NAIA range

Marks that fit the Division II and NAIA tiers, often the best mix of aid and competition.

D3 / NJCAA range

A strong path for athletes who want development time, academic fit, or a transfer route.

Women's Track and Field Recruit Score FAQ

What times do I need to run women's track in college?+

It depends on the event and the program. Use the tiers on this page as a starting point, then compare your marks with the conference championship results of the schools you want. If your mark would place around the top eight there, you are a realistic recruit.

Where do these track tiers come from?+

They are NextCommit's own high school PR tiers by division, built from publicly available recruiting standards. They estimate senior-year marks and are not official NCAA standards. NextCommit compares FAT, outdoor, wind-legal marks against them and checked the Division I tiers against 2026 TFRRS conference performance lists.

Does the score use hand times?+

Yes. Hand times are adjusted before they are compared with the tiers. Coaches still trust FAT times more, so race on FAT timing when you can.

Can cross country runners use the track Recruit Score?+

Yes. Pick women's track and field, choose your distance events, and add your cross country 5K time along with your 1600m or mile and 3200m.

Is the Recruit Score free?+

Yes. You can get a Recruit Score without an account. Creating a free NextCommit account saves your score and lets you email coaches at programs that fit.

Is a Recruit Score the same as a coach evaluation?+

No. College coaches decide from film, live evaluation, roster needs, academics, and fit. The score gives you a starting point so your target list and emails are realistic before you send them.
